The Interior life: Dealing with Thoughts - from ancient monasticism to modern Christian practice.
The interior life of each Christian is a journey toward fullness of life in Christ. The afflictive thoughts - food, sex and things; anger and dejection; acedia, vainglory and pride - can side-track us away from the richness and joy of fully embracing the Christian life. Equally, they can provide an invitation to learn good habits which support our imitation of Christ and experiece the deep joy of the Holy Spirit. This retreat will examine the content of each afflictive thought, discernment around how we engage with them, and guidance on how we can establish practices which are at the root of our Christian Gospel living.
